COMMUNITY POWERED

Not a single dollar of government funding. Every family inside our walls is there because donors, faith partners, and neighbors said yes.

Our Story

Open since 1981, Mary House has spent 45 years opening doors for low-income immigrant and refugee families in Washington, DC. What began with Bill and Sharon Murphy welcoming one family into their Brookland home has grown into 13 buildings — built without a single dollar of government funding and sustained entirely the community.
